A week ago Wednesday, I ended up in the emergency room when a kidney stone started to move. A week ago today, I had emergency lithotripsy to break up the 1.3cm stone. Today I go in to see if they will remove the stent.

The grit from the kidney stone is passing. The stone crushed to such a degree that the grit has the consistency of corn meal. The stint is causing more pain than the stones.

I'm home resting now. The doctor is sure he got the stone this time. I go back for a follow-up on Monday. Hopefully I'll be released to go back to work then.

The doctor scheduled me for a second Lithotripsy procedure on Wednesday. There will be no charge from him, his office or the lithotripsy company. On the other hand the hospital will charge for the use of the facility again. Oh well. We will most likely exceed my annual coverage but I think that I'm only responsible for 10% above the limit. I did the same thing today that I did a year ago on this date. I passed a kidney stone. And 10 days from now I'll have a very large one broken up which is what I did a year ago on that date. I don't want this to become an annual event. :(

I've suffered from kidney stones all of my adult life. I pass them from time to time. A couple of years ago I stopped passing them and they have been growing in size inside my kidneys. Tuesday I had my kidney stones crushed via the lithotripsy procedure. So today I'm panning for gold (ie. the remains of the former stones). The doctor wants as many particles as I can collect for analysis. This is in hopes of modifying my diet to prevent future stones.
